Choose a diamond blade by material and machine first, then compare rim design, dimensions and purchasing requirements. A general keyword such as “diamond cutting disc” is not a complete specification.
Identify ceramic tile, granite, marble, brick or concrete, and describe thickness and required finish. State whether the task is straight cutting, wall chasing or a separately approved edge operation. For a new material, request confirmation instead of assuming compatibility.
Check exact diameter, bore, guard requirements, marked maximum speed and wet/dry approval. Similar nominal inch sizes or rim patterns are not proof that two discs are interchangeable. Use the machine and blade instructions as the operating reference.
Test on the same material using the same approved setup. Record acceptable cut length, edge quality and wear. Do not rely on a universal grit size, an unsupported lifespan or a price comparison between different specifications.
Send the approved reference, quantity, destination and OEM marking or packaging needs. Confirm drawings, sample acceptance, MOQ and lead time before placing a volume order.
Work through these decisions in order. A later preference such as colour or packaging should not override an earlier compatibility requirement.
| Step | Decision | Next evidence |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Material and task | What is being cut and what finish is needed? | Material brief and operation description |
| 2. Equipment | Which blade types and dimensions are permitted? | Machine model and instructions |
| 3. Candidate | Which catalogue reference fits the requirement? | Dimensioned specification and application marking |
| 4. Evaluation | Does the sample meet the agreed requirement? | Trial record and accepted finish |
| 5. Supply | Which approved version will be ordered? | Model, revision, quantity and packaging details |
Use the catalogue to shortlist candidates, then the sample record to compare them. Keep unresolved requirements visible instead of selecting the closest-looking disc.
