A better diamond tool purchase starts with a clear specification and a controlled sample trial. These six procurement mistakes can lead to a product that looks correct but does not fit the application.
Do not buy by appearance alone, assume every diameter fits the machine, or treat colour as a reliable grade code. Specify material, bore, rim dimensions and permitted operation; obtain the matching drawing or product sheet.
Do not compare sample prices without the specification, accept performance percentages without a method, or approve a volume order without agreed acceptance criteria. Test under the same conditions and keep the approved sample reference.
Send machine details, material samples or descriptions, quantity, destination and packaging requirements. Ask how changes to the drawing or bond specification will be communicated between sample approval and production.
A short, structured enquiry gives a supplier something specific to answer. The examples below illustrate missing information rather than actual customer cases.
| Incomplete request | Better request |
|---|---|
| Send your best blade | State the material, machine and required finish |
| Quote a four-inch disc | Give the actual diameter and mounting dimensions |
| Make it the same blue | Identify the approved model separately from the colour |
| Guarantee more cuts | Agree what counts as an accepted cut and how the trial will be recorded |
Keep product approval separate from artwork approval. A colour sample or packaging proof confirms appearance, not the working specification of the blade.
