There is no reliable universal lifespan for a concrete diamond blade. Concrete composition, abrasiveness, reinforcement, cut depth, machine condition and the approved operating method all affect usable life.
Track acceptable cutting length or completed cuts under stated conditions. Record starting and remaining segment dimensions where the supplier’s method permits. A time estimate without material and setup details is not transferable to another job.
Uneven wear, overheating signs, glazing or abnormal vibration require investigation. Cracks, missing segments and core damage call for removal from service. Do not keep cutting simply to reach a predicted number of hours.
Send the material description, machine, blade specification and test record to the supplier. Compare replacement candidates using the same method and quality criteria rather than choosing the lowest disc price alone.
Lifetime comparisons become unclear when one trial stops after a shift and another continues until a documented wear limit. Record why each trial ended.
| End point | How to label the result |
|---|---|
| Scheduled trial ended | Interim cutting length; service life not established |
| Finish no longer acceptable | Record rejection criteria and the observed change |
| Inspection concern | Stopped for assessment; do not call this normal wear without evidence |
| Documented replacement criterion reached | Record the instruction and measurement used |
Compare results only when the material, operating conditions and acceptance definition are sufficiently alike. Retain the blade reference and photographs with the final record.
