Content updated:
Most construction diamond blades use synthetic industrial diamond. Synthetic diamond is real diamond with the same carbon crystal structure as natural diamond; it is not simply an imitation gemstone.
Manufacturers can select industrial grit characteristics for cutting applications. The particles are incorporated into a working rim or segment using a suitable manufacturing process. The steel core itself is not made from diamond.
Grit characteristics, concentration, bond and rim geometry work as a system. More diamond or a more expensive-looking blade does not automatically make the best choice for every material.
Ask which materials and machines the finished blade is approved for, then verify its dimensions and cutting method. Compare relevant sample performance rather than buying on a vague “real diamond” claim.
The meaningful purchasing information identifies the blade specification and intended application. A statement about diamond alone does not describe the complete product.
| Term | What it tells a buyer |
|---|---|
| Industrial diamond | The abrasive material category |
| Diamond-bearing rim | Where the working material is incorporated |
| Steel core | The supporting body and mounting geometry |
| Model specification | The complete design being quoted |
If two suppliers both describe their blades as containing real diamond, compare the actual model details and sample results next. The phrase is not a grading system for finished blades.
